Instructions for use – How to prepare to go to a convention?

If you plan to buy on site during an event, food or even at an artist’s booth. It is very likely that you do not have the opportunity to buy by credit card, plan cash in this type of case.

How do you know how to cost a product on a stand in normal times? You can normally at any time inquire on the sites of merchants and exhibitors, the price of their products exhibited for the occasion during an event. This will give you an order of ideas of the prices in question.

It is not uncommon that when we have to leave the hotel wherever we wish not to be cluttered with our belongings, we want to put them somewhere safe.In this type of case, what should be done?Four possible ways: either at the hotel, you can ask the reception for free to keep your belongings until your departure.Either in an event, you can pay a deposit (between 1 € to 5 € approximately.)and deposit your belongings.Either at the train station, but in this type of case, their services can often be interrupted, and that’s why we recommend the fourth method: locker services in nearby shops or stores, such as Nannybag, Radical Storage or Luggage Storage, which are a good way to keep your belongings safe and close to you!

Example: If you counted, for example, you would get products for your costumes or make-ups.Cosplay stands like Cosplay Craft, often exhibiting some events have a catalog page on their site, so feel free to inquire beforehand.

Once the preparation is complete, we move on to the organization.D-Day is approaching, so it’s time to take care of the details.Nothing obliges you, but it’s always better (manic that we are), it’s to make a to-do list (with Notion or Google Keep) that will be as well accessible from your pc and your smartphone.

For cosplayers, if you make a cosplay for this occasion, ask yourself deadlines and do not hesitate to use the Cosplanner application, it is a very good application that will allow you to prepare your cosplay. It’s also the best way to see what element is associated with your costume without taking your head.

Do not hesitate to organize and store your cosplays, 2 days before on a hanger hanging on a door or to store your accessories in a box and put it at the foot of a door to better prepare you for the D-day, but especially do not rush!

If one of the elements of your costumes such as a wig or an accessory is missing due to a delay due to courier transport problems, do not hesitate to check the ads 1 to 2 weeks in advance before the event on the Vinted platforms or by placing an ad in Story on Instagram.

When leaving for an event, you will have to pay attention to several things: the preparation of your bag or on the spot.

  • Check that you have put your ticket (preferably printed) in your bag.
  • Remember to hydrate and feed yourself on the spot, do not pass an event without energy, it is the best way to faint on the spot.Bring a bottle of water (avoid sodas, it doesn’t hydrate you.)per person and a snack (unless you plan to enjoy on the spot), protein bars or buddy apples to revitalize yourself on site.If it’s hot or cold, plan something to cover yourself.
  • Take dressings and medications, hand gel and masks for your medical need.We are never too careful in the face of a situation, in case of a blister, a cut, headaches, or discomfort, you will be prepared in this type of situation.
  • Take some backup shorts, we are always surrounded by malicious people unfortunately.Be accompanied, if you do not want to be alone.
  • Take backup shoes, we explain in the next point below, why it is essential, to have one on yourself.
  • Take a backup battery (preferably 20000 mAh) to charge your laptop.
  • Cosplayers: lacquer your wigs to avoid tangling them, store them in specific wig bags or put it in an Ikea box to protect your wig.
  • Bring a small bag to store your cosplay items by not mixing your lenses with makeup.Be rigorous on that side.
  • Check that you also have your tickets.(RER ticket, metro, bus etc …)
  • CAREFUL: If you still use the tickets, the bus and tram tickets are not usable in the metro and vice versa on PARIS and Île-de-France.(The main reason is that you change your transport service in a station between the SNCF service and the RATP, which is why we strongly recommend that you take a navigo or your ticket on your phone so as not to have any unpleasant surprises.)
  • Prepare business cards if you ever want to present your work.
  • Due to the vigi-pirate plan still in force, remember to take into account now the list of prohibited objects here: Security device – Japan Expo Paris
  • A list F.Has.Q. is also available to cosplayers here by JAPAN EXPO: FAQ Cosplay – Japan Expo Paris
